Water sure is a very important drink for your body and to stay hydrated and healthy. And while you must have advised people to drink lots of water knowing they don't drink enough, there are chances it's you who's drinking lots of it. That's true. You might be over-hydrating yourself unknowingly and still would be unaware of what's happening to your body. Now, according to experts, a healthy adult should be drinking 9 to 13 cups of fluids per day. So, if you still think you can't figure if you're drinking enough or a lot of water, here's a list of signs that you should pick on to know:

- You drink water even when you're not thirsty. There's a huge bunch of people who chug on water like no man's business even when they're not thirsty. Let us tell you that you're doing everything wrong by doing so. Over-hydrating can cause you serious troubles and can lead to electrolytes imbalance in your body. Electrolytes like potassium, magnesium and sodium regulates your kidneys and the functioning of your heart. And so, if you consume a lot of this liquid, there are chances that there might not be enough electrolytes in your blood to keep your organs functioning properly.

- If you think clear urine is completely normal then you're wrong. Dark coloured urine on the other hand is also unsafe and a sign of dehydration but that doesn't mean that you keep gulping down on lots of water only to get rid of the dark coloured urine and turn it to completely clear. Pale yellow should be the ideal urine colour to know if you're hydrated enough as well as healthy. Colourless urine indicates that you're over-hydrated and that you should be controlling your water intake.

- It's normal to urinate six to seven times in an entire day. But if you have to go pee quite frequently, and even have to wake up a few many times in the night to use the washroom then you should know that you're over hydrated. You might also suffer from other urinary tract infections or some other disorder, in that case you should be consulting a doctor.

- Another sign to pick to know if you're over hydrated is to see if your hands, feet or lips are swollen. Electrolyte imbalance can give a swelling in these organs if you're overly hydrated. Drinking a lot of water can lower the levels of sodium in the blood. This causes the body's cells to swell and retain fluid. In other cases, the cells in the tissues of the face can make you look puffy.

If you're experiencing any of these, you should know that you're drinking more than enough water and that you should have a control over it.
