Thanks to KFC, our consumption of fried chicken has skyrocketed and how! But if you were thinking you’re probably forgiven for having the said junk meal, because ‘chicken is all protein,’ you’re not going to like what we’re going to say next!

Regularly eating fried chicken or even fish is directly related to a higher risk of death, from any cause, specifically heart-related mortality. The study which was published in the British Medical Journal recommended reducing the consumption fried food, especially chicken and fish.

For the study questionnaire data of 106,966 women, between the age 50 to 79 was assessed. These women were enrolled in the Women's Health Initiative between 1993-1998 and who were followed up to February 2017.

The study found that older women with weekly fried chicken habits had a 12 percent higher chance of dying from a heart-related death.

“We didn’t have any reason why the effects may differ by age, or even by gender,” Dr. Wei Bao, a University of Iowa epidemiologist who co-authored the study. “I would suspect the association may be similar among younger women or even among men,” he added.

This may be the first study that actually confirmed what we all knew was true – fried food ain’t no good!
