Yamuna covered under a layer of froth due to high pollution levels in Delhi!
If the pollution levels in Delhi are anything to go by, Diwali celebrations in the capital were indeed 'dhamaakedar' this year. The pollution levels in Delhi are at an all-time high, so much so that Delhi has now been labelled as the most polluted city in the world. However, the pollution in Delhi today has become so toxic that it is not only affecting the air quality, but also lakes and rivers.
As seen recently during the Chatt Pooja celebrations in the city, Yamuna is topped with a blanket of froth. These pictures of Yamuna by the leading newspaper show the dire straits of the river.
However, what is to be noted is that according to the reports, this is a yearly occurrence. This year however due to the increased pollution levels, the condition looks aggravated.
