One of the worst things that can happen to your skin is a suntan. Not only does it end up making your skin look all patchy and different toned but it can also hurt your skin and leave marks behind. We tend to cover up our faces and bodies as much as possible when we step out but sometimes we end up with a tan anyway and that can just be super annoying. So, if you've ended up with a suntan and can't figure out how to get rid of it, here are some home remedies that will work wonders for you. Take a look.

Turmeric - Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin which can help reduce melanin production in the skin, and can thus get rid of tans over time. All you need to do is mix a pinch of turmeric with 1 tablespoon of milk and apply this mixture to your tan. Let it dry completely and then scrub and rinse it off with some water.

Cucumber - Cucumber contains some amazing moisturising and hydrating properties. So, not only will it soothe the pain from your tan but it'll also help in fading your tan away. You'll need 1 tbsp cucumber juice, 1 tbsp lemon juice and 1 tsp rose water. Mix all these ingredients together to form a thick and consistent paste. Once done, apply it all over your tan and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse it off with some cold water.

Papaya - This delicious fruit contains an enzyme called papain which works as an exfoliant and can thus help get rid of the outer layer of your skin. And that means your tan will disappear too. For this one, take 2-3 chunks of ripe papaya and mash it in a bowl using a fork. Apply this pulp to your tan and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse it off with some cold water later on.

These remedies truly will help get rid of your tan in no time, but before you opt for these, make sure to do a patch test first. Sometimes, all ingredients don't suit everyone. So, see which remedy works best for your skin and opt for that one. Stay tuned for more updates.
