Acne is one of the common skin problems that almost every teenager has. However, you are also likely to experience acne post-puberty as well. There can be so many different reasons behind acne on your skin and the sad truth is, it can happen to you any age and anywhere on your body, including your back. Apart from acne on the face, probably the second most acne-prone body part has to be the chest or back.

Acne on your back or popularly known as ‘back acne’ can be associated with excess sebum production on your skin that can clog the pores and inflame the hair follicles on the skin, leading to acne breakouts all over the back area. It can very be bothering as back acne can be painful and leave stubborn scars that no one wants. But, this is not the end of the world, in most cases, you can prevent back acne by making some lifestyle changes and following simple remedies.

Avoid letting sweat sit on your body for long. Take a quick shower after workout sessions, take bath regularly, and don't forget to change sweaty clothes on time. You can use a shower gel or body cleanser with salicylic acid to reduce the acne inflammations and avoid picking blemishes.

Try wearing loose clothes to let your skin breathe. Some times tight clothes and certain kinds of fabrics can irritate the skin and cause acne on your body. Backpacks can also cause sweaty backs leading to back acne. You can try using tea tree oil on your body to soothe your inflamed skin.

Try keeping your hair off your back to prevent back acne, especially during intense physical activities. Wash your hair from time to time and look for signs of dandruff as it can contribute to fungal acne as well. Don’t let your hair oil or conditioner touch your back as it can further clog your pores.

Look for body products labeled as ‘non-comedogenic’. Sometimes, body sunscreen, lotion, and wrong kind of waxing can also contribute to back acne.

Make sure you’re having an ample amount of sleep and maintain a balanced diet to keep off back acne. Keep yourself hydrated all the time.
