On January 26th 2019, our nation is celebrating its 70th Republic Day. This day marks the onset of India becoming a democratic republic and replacing the Government of India Act with the Indian Constitution. While a number of rituals take place in our country, from parades to hoisting tricolour flags in schools and offices, most restaurants also take this as an opportunity to serve dishes that represent the tricolour of the Indian flag. This tricolour can be achieved either by adding food colouring or by using natural ingredients of the same colours.

So, on this Republic Day, here are a few tricolour dishes for you to try at home:

Tricolour Pasta

Who doesn't love a good pasta dish? To make tricolour pasta, use some broccoli, carrots and penne pasta to represent the three colours in the flag. Not only will you end up with something super delicious, but it'll also please you aesthetically.

Tricolour Salad

Try something different and unique this Republic Day with a tricolour salad. Opt for green papaya, carrots, cucumbers and mint leaves and serve it with a dressing of spicy vinegar and honey. All you health freaks are sure to fall in love with this one.

Tricolour Fruit Jelly

Your guests are going to be really pleased when you bring out the dessert. This Thai tricolour jelly requires kiwi puree, coconut milk and orange juice. You can add some flavour to it with kaffir lime and it should be good to go.

So, which one of these are you going to try this Republic Day?
