Polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS is a gynecological condition that causes fluctuation of hormones. In today’s date, PCOS has become one of the most common endocrine conditions among women in India. While many factors can lead to PCOS, but insulin resistance and hormonal imbalance are two primary causes of PCOS. Although PCOS can be treated easily with early diagnosis, one must look out for underlying symptoms that can often go unnoticed. Following some strict diet rules can ease out your symptoms of PCOS. Start by organising your calorie intake. You also need to ensure what you’re eating has an ample amount of nutrients. Vitamin D, calcium, magnesium, chromium, and omega-3 fatty acids are very important for treating PCOS.

Consuming methi (fenugreek) seeds or leaves on an empty stomach in the morning can also help to regulate insulin levels. Loaded with antioxidants basil (tulsi) can also help to control androgens and insulin levels. You can chew basil leaves as it is or drink boiled basil water daily. Similarly, rich in antioxidants and anti-bacterial properties, amla (Indian gooseberry), and honey are also effective to treat PCOS.
